Kitchen Makers by Burbidge

Handcrafted British Kitchens
Kitchen Makers by Burbidge represents over 150 years of British woodworking heritage, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern kitchen design. This collection of handcrafted in-frame timber kitchens is produced in Burbidge's Coventry workshop, where the fifth generation of the family upholds the standards established in 1867.
We are one of Burbidge's partnership dealerships for Kitchen Makers, and the only one in our region. Our Plymouth showroom features a working Kitchen Makers display in Bone White and Prussian Blue, complete with a functioning Rayburn.

British Kitchens & Craftsmanship
Burbidge holds the Manufacturing Guild Mark, awarded by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers. This mark of excellence in British furniture making recognises the quality, craftsmanship, and intricate detailing that Burbidge has maintained across generations.
Kitchen Makers kitchens are crafted, not just assembled. Each cabinet is built in Burbidge's workshop, ensuring full control over quality and consistency. Doors cure for several days before primer is applied, then go through multiple rounds of sanding and painting until the finish meets exacting standards.
This hand-painted technique produces a rich finish that shows the wood grain beneath, something impossible to achieve with mass-produced methods. Each kitchen takes time to craft properly, but the result is furniture designed to last decades rather than years.

In-Frame & Shaker Kitchen Design
The Kitchen Makers collection offers three in-frame timber designs. Alderley exemplifies quintessential British shaker style with authentic details and decorative beading. Haddon adopts a more understated look with simpler lines suitable for contemporary or traditional settings. Somerton showcases a sophisticated shaker design with quarter round beading and concealed hinges.
Five lay-on shaker designs, Hidcote, Malton, Hepworth, Aldgate and Tresco, complement the in-frame range. All eight designs share the same handcrafted credentials and Burbidge heritage, but each has distinct characteristics that suit different homes and tastes.

Bespoke Kitchen Features
Every Kitchen Makers kitchen is custom-made with bespoke sizing, colour, and accessory options. Integrated chopping boards and trays, bespoke larder interiors, dovetail drawers, and variable-depth drawers allow you to tailor storage to how you cook and live.
In-frame construction means the door sits within the cabinet frame rather than overlaying it. This traditional method demands greater precision in manufacturing but results in a distinctive aesthetic and sturdy structure. You notice the quality in how drawers function and how doors align, not just in surface looks.
Burbidge offers extensive colour options across all Kitchen Makers collections. Whether you prefer classic whites and creams or more vibrant contemporary shades, the hand-painting process caters to your choice while upholding the same precise finish standards.
