Iain & Shelly Teasdale, Plymstock
No Compromise Required
When Iain and Shelly Teasdale started searching for a new kitchen for their Plymstock home, they had a clear brief: light, bright, practical, social, with plenty of storage and a stylish statement feature. After visiting two high street kitchen suppliers and having to compromise on each visit, they stopped by the KF Kitchens showroom at Faraday Mill on a whim on their way home.
"From the minute we walked in, it was a completely different experience, the customer service was far superior," said Iain. "Nathan went through all the ball-park costings for everything, item by item, so it was transparent from the start. We knew what we were going to get and how much it would cost. There was no big sell and no requirement to pay in full, up front."

The Design Challenge
The original kitchen was fitted when the couple bought their new-build home in 2008. "It was an oak, shaker-style kitchen, and it was never practical," said Shelly. "Things were in the wrong places and there was never enough storage for a growing family." Iain and Shelly had assumed they would need to extend the property by around three metres to get the kitchen they wanted. Nathan's home visit quickly changed that assumption. "Nathan said, 'no, you don't need to do that', and he was right, we didn't, so the advice was excellent."

The Solution
Iain and Shelly chose a Nolte kitchen, with the statement feature centred on the Flair door in black soft matt combined with white matt base units. Cupboards throughout have an anti-fingerprint coating; some feature gold-coloured handles, others are handle-free with integrated shelf lighting. The base cupboards are 900mm high with smaller plinths, providing 20% more internal storage space compared to traditional cupboards.
A Neff induction hob sits on the island, which gives the couple and their three children with extra worktop space and the social hub they desired. The Silestone quartz worksurface displays subtle grey and gold veining. All integrated appliances are from Neff, including a slide-and-hide oven and a combination microwave, some of which are digitally controlled for remote operation. A Blanco sink and a black Quooker boiling water tap complete the setup, while Karndean flooring unifies the gold tones running throughout the kitchen.

Installation & Completion
KF Kitchens coordinated the entire project through their contractors, handling installation, plumbing, electrical work, lighting, plastering, Karndean flooring, and decorating. "It was a one-stop shop, and we couldn't fault any of the work," said Shelly. "They all communicated with each other, so it was seamless. You can't put a price on that."
The Result
The finished kitchen gave Iain and Shelly everything they had been looking for without a single compromise. "We're delighted with it," said Shelly. "It looks great, it's easier to cook, it's easier to keep clean, the layout is practical, and there's space for us to use it as a living area. It's just a lovely place to be."
